54 - 180/430 a R4 NGC MS66 BN Trace Red. Hero Of Pea Ridge with A Penny Saved Is A Penny Earned and Franz Sigel on horseback in cape with sword. This is the only die combination for the obverse die where the legend is readable and consequently this variety is very popular, it was engraved by younger brother Emil Sigel. An NGC MS64 BN brought $336 in our February 2021 auction. From the Don Erlenkotter, Steve Tanenbaum and Cindy Wibker collections, earlier from our February 2014 auction, then Raw, where it sold for $336. (500-750)
