383 - HT-279 / Low 256 R3 NGC MS67 BN 10% Red, mostly on the obverse and nicely toned, mostly on the reverse. Dr. J. G. Hewett Bone Setter Practice Confined to Dislocations, Sprains, Contractions, Rheumatism, White Swellings, Weakness of the Limbs and etc., New York. Interestingly this variety is almost always found in Uncirculated condition while HT-278 / Low 255 is almost always found in worn condition. Additionally, HT-279 is struck on thin planchets from a later die state and are thought to be a restrike, likely from the late 1850's. We sold a more red Raw MS64 example for $791 in our December 2019 auction. From the Lumberton collection, earlier from PCAC's June 2010 sale. (1000-1500)
