308 - WV890G-4a R10 NGC MS62 RB 10% Red mostly on the obverse, with a large rectangular struck through area well centered on the reverse. C. E. Stifel Tin and Sheet Iron, Wheeling West Virginia 1863 with Toys And Confectionary reverse die 1227. This unique die combination with a dramatic mint error has long been one of our favorite Civil War tokens. We had seen it many times in our copy of the 2nd Edition of the Store Card book but the picture made it difficult to imagine just what it was. We never dreamed we would see it in person until we purchased the extensive Charles Urquhart collection in late 2000. Steve Tanenbaum loved it as well and purchased it from us almost immediately. From the Steve Fischer, Steve Tanenbaum, Charles Urquhart and George Fuld collections. Current Fuld Plate specimen. (1500-2000)
