Description
216 - TN690D-5bo R10 PCGS MS61 10% Bright and seemingly nice for the grade, struck over another token with much of the undertype visible. McKay & Lapsley, Nashville Tennessee 15 struck in Brass. This example is dramatically struck over a One Half Pint token of John Frank from Mill Creek Ohio with much of the undertype easily visible and believed to be Unique as such. The issuers were African-Americans, quite unusual at the time. Very rare town & merchant. We sold a MS63 example of the also Unique -6bo , 20 Cent Denomination over a 1 Pint Frank token, for $3,500 off our web site in September 2020. From the Dave Bowers collections, earlier from PCAC. Reverse Die: 1397. (3000-4000)
