722 - MILLER NY 857 Raw EF Details Light obverse scratch. Sweeny's Hotel and Sweeny's Dining Saloon, New York struck in German Silver with Plain edge counterstamped 13. This type of Sweeny counterstamp does not appear to be a denomination but perhaps a prepaid meal ticket of some sort as multiples of the same odd numbers are known. We have currently recorded the following numbers 13, 15, 19, 20, 31, 50, 87 and 94. A Raw AU example of 87 brought $100 in our January 2016 sale. From the Dave Bowers and David Litrenta collections.
