396 - N. P. SILV. MINE on an octagonal Silver planchet with SSS engraved Raw VF The N. P. SILV. MINE stamp is known on silver flatware from the 1870's. It is thought to refer to the Chipman Mine in Newburyport Massachusetts. Likely a souvenir made while hopes were still running high for the new mine, first discovered in 1874. Also known on coins.
