394 - MESCHUTT'S / METROPOLITIAN / COFFEE ROOM / 433. Bd. WAY on the reverse of a Draped Bust Cent Raw EF Coin POOR. Issued by Frederick Meschutt, Rulau dates this popular stamp to 1855. In part because the coin is so low grade the stamp is clear and bold. The paradox, if host is high grade the stamp difficult to read while if the coin is nearly smooth the stamp is often nice, is frequently seen with counterstamps. Unlisted in Adams. Miller NY 558A From the Dave Bowers and John Ford collections from Stack'sBowers August 2013 sale were it realized $499.38. (500-750)
