Description
251 - Possible Civil War token Raw EF Horace H. Day 23 Courtland St. New York Manufacturer of Vulcanite, Buy Day's Combs struck in Black Hard Rubber. Very rare variety, the first we have seen offered. (200-300)
This is Schenkman NY-610-D6 which is only included in the new Store Card book in its Possible Civil War Store Card section because it cannot be say with certainty it was struck during the War since Day was at the 23 Courtland address from 1846-1867. The Day token that is listed as NY630Sb-1h is Schenkman NY-610-D5 (oval) because it also has his agent as Charles C. Yeaton on the token, who was only listed in the 1861 NY city directory. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused.
Questions & Answers
Q:
Steve - this is the "possible CWT". The one that is definitely a CWT is Schenkman's S-5 which is oval. The rectangular one may have been issued anytime between 1846-1867, so it is listed in the possible CWT section. Sorry I'm just now seeing this.

This one has the same 23 Courtlant Street address listed in the book. There is no picture so I assumed the oval shape was in error. Both Schenkman D5 and D6 have the same business name and same address. Perhaps this should be called -2h? Let me know.
