536 - Lincoln Memorial token Raw AU Details With some Tin Pest and a few rim marks. Abraham Lincoln In God We Trust Assassinated April 16 1865 (with 25 under bust) // United States of America For Ever Inseparable 1864. Struck in White Metal 24mm. The meaning of 25 on the obverse has long been debated, given the motto In God We Trust being used on coins beginning in 1864 it has been suggested this is a proposal for a new quarter. Alternately, the 25 could represent the number of states still in the Union after the Confederate states succession. An EF with two obverse nicks brought $209 in our January 2016 auction. (100-150)
