539 - Olders Horned Horse Raw VF Older's Museum Circus & Menagerie Coming Horned Horse with nice image of the horned wonder. Thin 20mm White Metal with incused image on reverse. Older's was a popular traveling circus based in Independence Iowa who issued two listed shell cards (1868 and 1870) and a shell mirror. This piece is similar in construction, size and composition to an 1869 dated Yankee Robinson token that is often collected with the related Civil War tokens. We believe this was likey made by the same manufacturer in 1869. Though possibly half of a shell card it is also likely this is the original intended form as none of the small incused Yankee Robinson pieces are known in shell form. Regardless of its form it is a very nice early Iowa token with a great pictorial image. (200-300)
