Description
294 - PARISIAN / VARIETIES / 16. St & B'WAY. N. Y. on the obverse of an 1875 Seated Half Dollar NGC XF40 Coin EF, counterstamp EF. According to Rulau Parisian Varieties was an erotic show of nubile young ladies in 1875 and 1876. This counterstamp is known on a number of different Half Dollars making for a challenging collection by date and mint mark. A very attractive example. Another EF but raw example on a EF coin with light reverse scratches brought $222 in our February 2014 sale. Miller 627 Rulau NY NY 230 From the John J. Ford collection Stack's Bowers August 2013. (300-400)
