Description
257 - LU H-1g R9 NGC G4 Or a bit better. The obverse approaches VF while the reverse approaches AG. H. H. Union 1861 struck in Lead with very rare George Washington reverse die 1140A. Known and considered a Civil War token for quite some time. Formerly called Patriotic 115/466, it is now thought to be a Store Card. The issuer has yet to be discovered making for another research opportunity. Philadelphia is likely a good starting point as similarities of this reverse to a die by Philadelphia die sinker Robert Lovett Jr.. In this instance it was probably used by a different maker as a model or mold as was done with Patriotic 115/530. From the Mark Cramer and George Fuld collections. In a George Fuld NGC holder as 115/466 g, a former designation. This was the Fuld Plate token when it was considered Patriotic. (400-500)
