Description
331 - PA464A-1do R9 NGC MS64 30% Bright struck over a Flying Eagle cent, though not so noted on holder and we could find no visible date. Petersen's Jewelers, Honesdale, Scranton and Pittston Pennsylvania struck over a Copper Nickel Flying Eagle Cent. While we could see not date the bottom outline of the eagle, his talons and tale are visible on the obverse with some study when viewed turned 180 degrees. On the reverse the inner outline of the wreath is visible along with the CEN of Cent, all with some study required. Pennsylvania Civil War tokens over Indian Head Cents are quite unusual let along one struck over a Flying Eagle, A raw MS63 -2do over an 1863 Cent brought $1,009 in our December 2012 sale. From the Steve Tanenbaum, Herman Aqua and Ray Byrne collections. (1500-2000)
