Description
481 - HT-906 R7 Raw VF Coin FINE+. W. LEVIS counterstamped in raised letters within a ribbon shaped depression on the obverse of an 1833 Capped Bust Half Dollar. Rulau attributes this piece to Philadelphia silversmith William Levis, and with 1836 the latest dated coin used, now includes it in the Hard Times period. Thought to be one of just five known with this undertype. A nicer example on an 1823 Half brought $900 in our July 2014 auction. (750-1000)
