207 - MI450L-5a R10 NGC AU58 BN Mott & Bro. Druggists and Grocers, Hillsdale Michigan. Rare and unusual mule of Childs of Chicago obverse die with a Gleason of Hillsdale reverse die. The obverse die was apparently retained by the Childs customer and later pressed into service again by the hometown Gleason mint. This has the very rare and previously unlisted 1185A reverse. Only three varieties are known with this reverse, the other two R9. A NGC AU58 of MI450M-3a in the April 2012 Temple sale realized $920 and a raw MS62 of MI450H-2a in our July 2009 sale realized $1,800. From the Steve Tanenbaum collection earlier from Gary Pipher May 1974. (1000-1500)
