967 - Tribute To The Memory Of Gen. Robt. E. Lee N. O. 1871 (around bust left signed R. Laubenheimer) // Virginia Gen. Lee Born Jan 19 1807 Died October 12 1870 (around state seal with Sic Semper Tyrannis ). Virginia was Lee's birth and death place but we are unsure of the New Orleans Louisiana significance. It am have simply been a souvenir of a remembrance held for Lee in 1871 in that city. New Orleans does have a famous Lee Memorial that was completed in 1884 and perhaps they were sold early on for fund raising. White Metal 47mm. AU58 30% Bright. In a NGC holder graded AU58. (200-300)
