848 - MILLER PA 425A AU+ 20% Bright. W. H. Richardson 104 Market St., Philadelphia Pennsylvania struck in Brass with Reeded edge. Struck from an unlisted obverse die with the most obvious feature being the ornament above Philada is to the right of the L rather than to the left. There are at least three known examples of this variety and John Ford was also aware of this variety so presumably an additional example should have existed in his collection. Since we became aware of this variety we have been unable to confirm the existence of PA 424 as described in Rulau, let us know what you find in your collections. From the Richard Crosby collection.
