630 - LOW 257 / HT-282 R6 VF Boldly struck but with few light scratches. L. G. Irving & Co. St. Louis & J.S. Pease, New York. Underrated and when found are usually very low grade and / or damaged. Struck without collar and the obverse denticles wrap around the edge making it difficult to judge if this should be called Plain or Reeded edge. A dark, quite porous and encrusted VF sold for $330 in our October 1999 sale. From the John Ford collection. (1500-2000) See pictures.
