434 - OH770A-3i Unlisted AU Trace Bright with 50% or more Original Tin Plating remaining. B. L. Crew, Richmond Ohio struck in Tin Plated copper. Reverse die 1045 is one of just a handful of dies which are more than occasionally encounter in Tin Plate, others being 1037, 1192, 1288, 1046 and of course stalwart 1042. Tin Plate with those dies are almost always collector strikes while 1045 in Tin Plate seems to be used almost exclusively for circulation. Underrated town, an example in EF of the R5 -3a variety sold for $137.50 in our March 2008 sale. From the Dave Bowers collection. (300-400)
