Description
395 - OH165AD-2a R7 MS63 40% Red. Magi Genii Qubo Dairi Whang Consulere Generi Hominum Ho Hi Wang B.C. 129374. A very interesting and mysterious token. Long attributed to Cincinnati Ohio, where it was made, it will now be listed in the non local section of the next Store Card book. Fuld states this is assumed to be a magician's satirical piece and is listed as MT221 by Kuethe in the Magicians' Tokens book. An 1877 Cogan catalog indicated it was "a poke at collectors". If the mystery is ever unlocked it will likely increase the desirability of this token even more. Another less red MS63 sold for $594 in our March 2010 auction. (500-750) See pictures.
