253 - MI 60aA-1a R9 EF Wm. Brooks, Battle Creek Michigan and Elkhart Indiana. Formerly listed under Elkhart as IN260A-1a, it is planned to be listed under Battle Creek in the next edition of the Store Card book as that was Brooks headquarters. Rare die variety from a two town token struck from two die sinkers dies. The obverse is by Childs of Chicago while the reverse is by Indiana Primitive maker Higgins of Mishawaka. Just the fifth example we have seen offered in the last twenty five years, a VF brought $375 in our December 2006 sale. (300-400)
