285 - MI615A-2b R8 MS60 Details with 50% original bright mint luster and attractive obverse, however the reverse has some light reddish colored stains. J. W. Phelps & Co. Drugs and Medicines, Mason Michigan struck in Brass. Very scarce single merchant town and very rare variety, the only example we have seen offered. A VF of the more available -1a variety sold for $140 in our October 2011 sale. From the Cliff Temple collection earlier from James Kelly December 20, 1941 for $0.35. (300-400)
