Society of Medalists 1930 Number 2. Dionysus god of revelry with two satyrs crushing grapes in a wine press on the reverse, a commentary on the alcohol prohibition of the day. Bronze 72mm in nice Uncirculated condition with original informative booklet but no box. Sculptor Paul Manship made by the Medallic Art Co. NY with a mintage of 1,950. One of the most popular medals in the series. A similar example with original box and papers brought $330 in my July 2006 sale. (300-400)
