Mint Medal 1845 James Polk Inaugural Medal. Julian PR-09 Bronzed 62mm by John Chapman MS62. A rare and very high relief Inaugural medal that apparently got Chief Coiner Franklin Peale in a bit of trouble for first paying for them out of Mint funds then asking for donations from employees to cover the cost. A similar example brought $968 in PCAC's March 1999 sale. One of just 119 struck. (1,000-1,500)
