Description
Mint Medal 1865 North Western Sanitary Fair Commemorative Medal. CM-45 Bronzed 57.5mm sharp MS60 with some light rim marks. With original red leatherette box with purple felt lined interior, worn but in good working order. Signed by Anthony C. Paquet featuring
bust of Lincoln and Liberty with flag advancing toward military camp. A tiny monitor can be seen in the background. Obverse has a light die crack through Lincoln's head as usual. The Fair was held in Chicago in June of 1865 to help raise money to aid soldiers.
A nicer uncirculated example without box brought $524.44 in my October 2003 sale. (500-750)
