Description
MILLER SC 8C EF But with a planed down obverse and many reverse scratches. W. W. Wilbur Auction Merchant, Charleston South Carolina struck in Gilt Brass and Unlisted as such. An interesting study piece that the consignor believed to be a rare unlisted
Reverse Only. The scratches and present of AU suggest it is an altered normal striking. However, it is obviously Gilt plated with 20% or more remaining on the reverse and even traces around the two letter on the obverse. Neither Miller or Rulau list any of
the Wilbur tokens in this composition. Tony Chibarro only lists Gilt with the obverse 2 and reverse B combination and assigns it a Pseudo Miller number SC 8C. On that basis I have called this a SC 8C although it is unlikely it can ever be proven which obverse
was used on this token. Ex. Richard Crosby and Max Schwartz collections. (100-150)
