8 - 9/238 a R8 AU With traces of original red mint luster on the obverse. Rare Indiana Primitive token with Monitor reverse die struck in Copper. This particular die combination is rarer in Copper than Brass. Even though the Brass is rated as R9 this is only the fifth Copper example we have seen offered compared with twelve Brass examples in our data base. From the Lee Hestad and Henry South collection ex. Dorge March 1972. Earlier from our March 2010 auction were it brought $1,980. (2000-3000)
