Description

Civil War token Fuld TN690B-1a R9 PCGS MS64 RB with 10% Red and light toning. Harris & Pearl, Nashville Tennessee with 1864 Indian Head reverse. Dick Harris & Henry Pearl, both African-Americans, were operators of a Tonsorial Saloon that offered many grooming services. Only a handful of Civil War token issuing merchants are known to be African-Americans. Very rare town. Each merchant from Nashville is so rare that it is a very difficult town to locate even with six listed merchants. A Raw EF retoned from cleaning example sold for $1,200 in our June 2013 auction. From the Q. David Bowers collection earlier from Rossa and Tanenbaum, in a special PCGS holder with Dave's picture and facsimile signature.
