Description

Civil War token Fuld 507/510A mp R8 PCGS MS63 70% Bright and Full Silvering, nice for grade. For President Abraham Lincoln Of Ill. Presidents House struck in Tin Plate, what used to be called Zinc. This piece has the look of a White Metal variety with slightly thicker planchet, not a trace of Brass base can be seen anywhere even on the rims and edge and there are some light marks on rims (possibly the cause for the grade) that are more often seen on White Metal pieces as that metal is very soft compared to Brass the usual base metal for Tin Plated tokens. We will go with PCGS's verdict and since it is a popular Lincoln piece the value difference is relatively minor, though if it is indeed White Metal it is considerably rarer. Dewitt AL 1860-61.  From the Q. David Bowers collection earlier from Rossa and Tanenbaum in a special PCGS holder with Dave's picture and facsimile signature.
