422 - SAGE'S / CANDY / COIN on obverse of 1874 Trade Dollar Raw EF Coin VG. According to Russell Rulau these were issued by Buffalo New York patent medicine seller R. V. Pierce who sold under the names Dr. Pierce and Dr. Sage. A popular stamp normally seen on Seated Quarters and Half Dollars. Rare on Trade Dollar, one of just four examples known. Rulau NY Bf 20 From the Dave Bowers collection earlier from Stack's March 2007 sale. (500-750)
