425 - MILLER MA 69 PCGS MS63 RB 20% Red, all on the reverse with very attractive toning on the obverse. Jos. H. Merriam Die Sinker Boston Massachusetts with John C. Heenan Champion of America 1859 on reverse struck in Copper 31mm. Heenan was a very popular boxer from an era when it was still illegal and before the use of gloves. He had a famous 37 round fight with Thomas Sayer (also a Merriam subject) in 1860. Later they toured together reenacting their match. A Raw MS63 realized $225 in our January 2016 sale.
