326 - HT- 3 / Low 1B R7 NGC F12 Overstruck on HT-15 / Low 7 with much of that tokens legends visible. Andrew Jackson The Bank Must Perish, The Union Must And Shall Be Preserved. One of the classics in the Hard Times series. Long thought to have been issued in conjunction with the 1832 Presidential campaign, this example, struck over the 1834 dated Pro Whig HT-15, would seem to indicate they may have been struck in 1834 during the Congressional elections. This is the Aged Head and this, along with the Scowling Head, are much rarer than the traditional HT-1 / Low 1. A very interesting and important piece. We sold a Raw FINE+ example of the more available HT-1 , not overstruck, that realized $3,500 in our January 2016 auction. From the Don Partrick, Michael Zeddies and Virgil Brand collections, earlier from Bowers & Merena March 1990 at $5,100. (4000-6000)
