208 - OH165CC-2d R10 NGC MS65 40% Bright. B. Jahr 549 Vine Street, Cincinnati Ohio 1864 struck in Copper Nickel and called Unique in the current Store Card book, however, that listing is noted as in the ANS collection and, if true, this would be the second known. The obverse die is cracked at the lower right, possibly accounting for the rarity of this predecessor token. Very rare merchant. John Ostendorf's research indicates that Bernard Jahr and Gustus Krueckemeyer operated B. Jahr & Co., a Bakery at 549 Vine Street from as early as late 1865 until 1868. We sold an NGC MS65 BN example of the R9 -2a variety for $1,853 on eBay on July 4th 2022. From the Lumberton, Steve Tanenbaum and Ron Fern collections, earlier from Sol Kaplan. (2000-3000)
