128 - MI450A-1b R8 NGC MS65 50% Bright. J. O. Ames Books & Stationery, Hillsdale Michigan 1863. Extremely rare merchant and one of the keys to a Michigan merchant set. This is likely the finest known by a huge margin; Temple was missing this variety and Tanenbaum's was graded NGC MS62. From the Tom Reed and Wayne Stafford collections earlier, from Heritage's April 2013 sale where it realized $4,112.50 and our December 2016 sale where it brought $4,750. (6000-8000)
