107 - KY480B-1a R9 NGC MS65 RB 20% Red with some nice toning. John W. Lee Baker & Confectioner, Lexington Kentucky struck in Copper with 1864 Indian Head reverse. Rare variety, just the fifth we have seen offered. Though tokens like this with reverse die 1047 are usually thought of as collector strikes, the majority of the examples we have recorded of this variety were EF to AU. This is likely the finest known. A raw AU brought $252 in our August 1996 sale. From the Lumberton and Steve Tanenbaum collections. (1500-2000)
