Description
402 - LOW 176 / HT-434 R5 NGC VF25 BN But uneven strike as usual with a some roughness. Gustin & Blake 1835, Chelsea Vermont. The unevenness results in Chelsea VT and a number of stars being very weak or missing but with a fairly strong merchant name and coffee pot though on this one the date is not clear. Distinguishing between Low 175 and 176 is difficult and we believe a Low 175 illustrates both varieties in Rulau. Refer to lot 318 in the Ford Hard Times sale for a well struck Low 176 and note the base of the T's in Stoves and Tin and base of E in Ware. We sold another NGC VF25 in our June 2013 sale that realized $850. From the Don Partrick and Don Miller collections, earlier from Dave Bowers vie John Ford on June 29th 1983. (750-1000)
