Description
399 - LOW 149 / HT-413 R7 NGC XF45 Corporation of Philadelphia 50 Cents struck in German Silver circa 1835-36. Signed F.S. which is though to represent Feuchtwanger Silver. The token's composition, wreath, berries and ribbon are all very similar to Feuchtwanger Cents of 1837. One of the classic rarities of the Hard Times, the only other example we have handled was a VF Details porous example in our August 1996 sale that realized $2,640. More recently an NGC XF40 sold for $11,750 in Heritage's December 2012 auction. From the Don Partrick, Don Miller, John Ford and Elliott Smith collections, earlier from Dave Bowers via John Ford on June 29th 1983 for $2,975. (8000-12000)
