Description
311 - 386/427 d R8 PCGS MS66 60% Bright. Good For One Cent 1863 Redeemed Union 1863 struck in Copper Nickel. Two rare dies, a Raw Uncirculated Details but slightly bowed example in White Metal sold for $918.50 in our December 2000 sale. From the George Fuld collection then to Ed Rosen April 1976. Ed Rosen who bought the George Fuld collection of Rhode Island was primarily a Store Card collector. When he discovered that a number of the pieces he received had been reclassified as Patriotic tokens he thought he had been taken. Fortunately, Steve Tanenbaum came to the rescue purchasing all the unwanted tokens at a considerable premium over what Ed had paid George. In the following years Ed was able to greatly enhance his Store Card collection from this windfall. From the Dave Bowers, Steve Tanenbaum, Ed Rosen and George Fuld collections. (2000-3000)
