53 - IN950A-4b R7 PCGS AU53 With a small D counterstamp. D. Carlile Oysters, Confectionery and Cigars, Warsaw Indiana with Good For 25 Cents Payable In Bank Bills reverse struck in Brass. Scarce town and rare merchant. A number of this variety are found with a chisel mark through the denomination but this is the first with a D counterstamp, perhaps the meanings are related. From the Tom Reed, Dave Bowers and Western Reserve collections, earlier from Rossa & Tanenbaum. Reverse Die: 1400. (400-500)
