340 - OH895A-1a R8 Raw MS63 20% Red. C. McCarty Washington House, Urbana Ohio 1864 struck in Copper. Now considered as Non Contemporary as announcements for the recently opened business were placed in December 1866 issues of the Urbana Union newspaper. Very rare merchant and town. Before this revelation we sold a R10 example of -2d in our December 2008 sale that realized $6,000. More recently fellow Urbana Non Contemporary Fisler& Chance have been bringing in the $200 range on eBay. It will be interesting to see what this rare, non maverick token with an 1864 dated reverse die will bring. NC OH-N. From the Charles Thobaben collection. (400-500)
