230 - MI450A-1a R9 Raw VF+ J. O. Ames Books & Stationery, Hillsdale Michigan 1863. Extremely rare merchant and one of the keys to a Michigan merchant set. This is the only Copper example from this merchant we have seen offered. From the Tom Reed and Steve Tanenbaum collections earlier from our January 2015 sale were it brought $1,400 even earlier from Tony Terranova in 2005. (1500-2000)
