Description
169 - MO910C-1e Unlisted NGC AU58 Trace Bright all on the reverse. Henry Jenkens Clothier, St. Louis Missouri 1863 struck in White Metal. Unlisted in all but Copper, this has all the appearance of White Metal on a thick 3.3mm planchet. NGC called "I" what we used to call Zinc but is known as Tin Plate. In their writeup of the Newman material Heritage called Zinc. Finally the NGC XRF Elemental Analysis says 98% Tin, so we believe the correct designation in the Civil War token scheme is "e" for White Metal (Tin, Pewter, etc.). What-ever we decide to call it, it will always be the discovery specimen and t is currently thought to be Unique. From the Eric Newman collection. (1000-1500)
