73 - 498/499 Iron R8 Raw VF A nice example. The First Ironclad 1862 Made From the Armor Plate Of The Merrimac. The Iron from the Merrimac was not recovered until well after the Civil War and consequently it has been delisted, however it is still collected along with the series as an important war relic. A bit dark slightly granular EF realized $1,550 in our August 2015 sale. (1500-2000)
