Description
41 - 125/253 a R9 NGC MS63 BN Trace Red, slightly off center with some natural planchet roughness at rim. 1864 Abraham Lincoln / 1864 Yngenio Ecuador struck in Copper. Exceedingly rare muling of 1864 Yngenio Ecuador with Lincoln obverse. The reverse was originally used to make tokens here in the US for use in Cuba, but was muled during the war with six different Civil War token dies each exceedingly rare. Other than this example, the only other offering of this die was in our January 2016 sale. It was a NGC MS63 example of 253/295 mp that brought $3,050. The present example is somewhat more desirable with the Lincoln pairing rather than Freedom. From the Mark Glazer, John Ford and F. C. C. Boyd collections earlier from Stack's Bowers September 2013 sale where it realized $3,818.75. (4000-6000)
