38 - 123/123 a R10 NGC MS62 BN George Washington doubleheader ( mint error ?) struck in Copper with a Reeded Edge by the US Mint most likely on the fairgrounds of the Great Central Fair held in Philadelphia in June 1864. Unlike a single die doubleheader this example is quite well struck on each side indicating that two exceedingly similar but different dies were used. The Unique status of this die in the Patriotic series has made the collection of restrikes like the above a collectors only resort. Now publicly for the first time ever collectors have a chance at the real thing. The holder states it is the Fuld Plate, this must have been the first edition as neither side appear to match the current plate (a Store Card stand in likely used) and unfortunately we were not able to locate our first edition for comparison. From the Mark Glazer, Larkin Wilson, Joe Kuehnert, Jon Harris and George Fuld collections. (4000-6000)
