140 - PA-72-05B R8 PCGS AU58 A. W. H. Baxter's Fire Zouaves Sutler's Ticket. The Pennsylvania 72nd Volunteers were popularly known as Baxter's Fire Zouaves because its soldiers were drawn from Philadelphia Fire Companies, was organized and led by DeWitt Clinton Baxter and wore the unusual Zouave style uniforms with short jackets, baggy trousers and ornamental headgear. A raw AU example realized $1,050 in our December 2005 sale. Formerly NL H-5B. (1000-1500)
