153 - MI480E-2a R9 NGC MS64 BN 20% Red. H. Howe & Co. Hardware, Hudson Michigan. All varieties from this merchant and even this town are rare in Uncirculated condition. Very rare variety missing from the Tanenbaum collection, by far the finest of just two examples recorded. An AU example of the much more available R8 -1a variety brought $135.50 in our July 2007 sale. From the Cliff Temple collection earlier from James Kelly on December 20th 1941 for $0.35 and said to be ex. Virgil Brand. (750-1000)
