79 - PA O-10 B R8 NGC AU58 A. W. H. Baxter's Fire Zouaves Sutler's Ticket. Formerly listed as NL H-10B. The Pennsylvania 72nd Volunteers were popularly known as Baxter's Fire Zouaves because its soldiers were drawn from Philadelphia Fire Companies organized and led by DeWitt Clinton Baxter and wore the unusual Zouave style uniforms with short jackets, baggy trousers and ornamental headgear. An AU example of the R7 -5B variety realized $1,050 in our December 2005 sale. From the John Ford collection earlier from George Fuld August 1962. (1500-2000)
