48 - 104/521 a R9 EF40 Double or perhaps triple struck with nearly 180 degree rotation between strikes. Oddly this doubling seems to have enhanced the strike for this notoriously poorly struck variety. Rare variety with rare Copper Mine Token reverse die struck by A. W. Escherich of Chicago Illinois. Overrated at R9 but this one of the most detailed examples we have seen offered, a weakly struck EF sold for $550 in our June 2005 sale, while a well struck and likely finest known AU+ brought $1,855 in our July 2012 sale. In a NGC holder graded XF40 BN. (1000-1500) See pictures.
