Description

MI 45A-5a Unl EF F. J. & J. Palmer's Woolen Factory, Atlas Genesee County Michigan. Unlisted reverse die 1039A. The main difference between 1039A and 1039 (also unlisted for this merchant) is that the ribbon end is between the 8 and 6 rather than over the 8 and the last star is just under the last feather rather than well below. Steve Tanenbaum had labeled this MI 45A-2a with 1031 reverse adding doubt to the existence of that variety. A VF+ example brought $211 in my November 2004 sale.
